How I Pivoted From Soundwaves to Code

Personal

Hello and welcome to the blog! I am Torrey L. Adams, a fast-learning technology professional with a passion for transforming ideas into systems through strategic planning and technical implementation.

My career path hasn’t been a traditional straight line; rather, it has been an exciting evolution. I want to take a moment in this inaugural post to share the story of my professional transformation and where my focus lies today.

The Foundation: 17 Years in Audio & Design

For nearly two decades, from 2005 to 2022, I operated as a self-employed Audio Engineer. During that time, I produced and engineered audio, managing over 10,000 hours of recording sessions with artists, songwriters, producers, musicians, and vocalists. Managing complex studio sessions required a high degree of interpersonal communication, extreme attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems on the fly.

Alongside my audio work, I also built a strong foundation in digital media and business operations. As a Web Designer, I developed responsive websites, managed digital marketing assets, and trained clients on analytics and content workflows. Later, as a Marketing Coordinator, I managed eCommerce website performance, onboarded products to increase data efficiency, and designed campaign ads.

The Pivot: Embracing IT, Data, and AI

In 2023, I decided to fully lean into my passion for technology and officially began a career transition into the IT and Data fields. Recognizing the rapid pace of technological advancement, I committed myself to a journey of continuous learning and professional development.

To build out my technical toolkit, I earned several professional certifications, including IT Automation with Python, IT Support, and Project Management. I also hold a Data Processing Certification and am currently expanding my expertise with coursework in Data Analytics and Cyber Security.

Where I Am Today: Building the Future

Today, my primary objective is to leverage research and technology to provide AI solutions and build innovative system applications. My technical stack has grown to include everything from backend Python and SQL to frontend web development, cloud tools like Docker and Google Cloud, and project management frameworks like Agile and Scrum.

I am already applying these skills to real-world solutions. For example, I recently developed Issue Manager, a Python-based command-line application using SQLite3 to seamlessly manage, search, and export data. I also launched Quirgs.com, an online resource dedicated to concise, practical technical guides on custom stacks, AI workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Looking Ahead

I am incredibly enthusiastic about supporting organizations that embrace technological advancement. Through this blog, I look forward to sharing my ongoing projects, technical deep-dives into data visualization and agentic workflows, and insights from my continued learning journey.
